LABOUM’s Yulhee Sues FT Island’s Minhwan For Child Custody, Child Support: Korean Fans React
Custody Battle: Yulhee Strikes Back
Former LABOUM member Yulhee has filed a lawsuit against her ex-husband FT Island member Minhwan for custody of their children and child support.
On November 4, it was revealed that Yulhee had filed for mediation at the Seoul Family Court to request a change of custody, as well as alimony and property division. According to court sources, Yulhee claimed that no proper discussions regarding alimony or property division were held during their divorce in 2023.
The exact reasons for their divorce were unclear at the time, but Yulhee chose to reveal them to avoid future misunderstandings after her appearance on the show "Now I'm Alone." After her appearance, she was criticized, with many mistakenly believing that her leaving the family home was the main cause of the divorce.
Yulhee made surprising revelations about the real reason behind their split, accusing Minhwan of frequenting adult establishments before their divorce.
Yulhee and Minhwan got married in October 2018 after giving birth to their son in May of the same year. In February 2020, the couple welcomed twin girls, bringing their total children to three. However, after five years of marriage, they divorced last year.
Reactions from Korean netizens were mixed:
"She must get custody of her children."
"I support her."
"Courage."
"I'm on his side."
"I hope she gets custody of the children and also alimony."
“People on Minhwan’s side talk about what’s best for children, but isn’t a mother’s happiness the first factor in a child’s happiness? Personally, I just want my mother to be happy.”
"Yulhee endured this for a long time. She did the right thing by bringing it to everyone's attention."
"Even from my perspective, I don't need a known father to frequent adult establishments. It's embarrassing."
"I really hope everything goes well for her."
"Courage."
"She deserves to receive everything she asks for."
"I totally support her."
“We all thought Minhwan was a good father, but we were all wrong.”
